How to help us resolve an error quickly
If you are getting an error message, try to include as much information as possible when contacting us. For instance, attach a screenshot along with a description of the problem. You can make a screenshot as follows:
1. Hit the Print Scrn key ( Shift-[Prt Sc] ) on your keyboard
2. Start Microsoft Word
3. From the Edit menu, select Paste to paste the screenshot into Word
Save the Word page and email it to use as an attachment.
If the problem is with the drawing itself or components in the drawing then save the drawing and send it as an attachment by email outlining the problem. We will review the drawing and advise by email or phone how to fix the problem.
If you make a mistake
If you make a mistake, you can usually Undo it. You can undo an unlimited number of times in one editing session, but can only Redo the last Undo.
Save your drawing regularly and keep to a standard file naming convention. If one does not exist already, devise a system for naming and storing revised files so you can maintain a record of changes to the well history.
Agree a procedure for naming and storing files with your colleagues.
Copying the drawing to other Windows applications
To copy the drawing to other Windows applications such as Word , use the Insert into Word icon or pick the Insert into Word menu option under File, Export menu. The Insert into Word feature is partly dependent on your default Word Page Setup. If you find it doesn't suit you, you can manually copy the drawing using the Copy All option, which is under the Windows Clipboard section of the Edit menu. Then switch to Word an select the Paste Special command, picking the "Paste as Picture" option. Before sizing the image to fit the page, you must first crop the image to eliminate the white border. Right-click on the image and select the "Format Picture" option. Pick the "Picture" tab an adjust the right and left settings in the "Crop from" section until the white border almost touches the edge of the drawing form. Once you have found the right setting, it should remain constant for other drawings of the same type. Once the image is cropped, you can resize it to fill the page.
Alternatively the drawing can be printed to PDF and the PDF pasted into suitable Windows applications.
Printing the drawing
If the drawing does not fill the page when printed , the default View may have been unset. To reset it, pick the View button on the Print dialogue box and select PAGE_1. The pick OK to print. If the drawing still does not fill the page, check that the orientation setting of your default printer is set to Portrait. If it is, pick the Rotation button on the Print dialogue box and check that is is set to 0. NOTE: An exception to the above is when printing Well Status ?Open Format drawings in Landscape mode. In this case, the correct view is PAGE_1_LANDSCAPE and the orientation of the printer should be set to Landscape. Set these back to PAGE_1 and Portrait to print normal drawings.
If the lines and text on a drawing appear too thick when printed , pick the Pen Properties button on the Print dialogue box. Pick all the item in the list by picking the first item, hold down the Shift key and scroll down to the bottom of the list. Then pick the last item so that all the listed items are highlighted. In the Width section on the bottom right of the dialogue box, type in 0.003. Then OK all the dialogues and try printing again.
Drawing
The ORTHO setting is useful when moving objects or drawing lines . When ORTHO is on, objects can only be moved in the vertical or horizontal planes. The F8 key toggles ORTHO on and off . The current ORTHO setting can be seen in the grey bar at the bottom of the screen ?it will be greyed out if ORTHO is off.
To fit a string back within the borders of the drawing form , pick the Format option under the File menu. You will be prompted to pick the current end of the string (pick the lowermost point) and then pick the desired new end point within the form. The program will re-assemble the string to fit.
To create a gap in a string (e.g. to place an isolated packer), use the Reset Point option under Settings , Insertion Point and specify a point for the new symbol. Another alternative is to insert some tubing symbols before the new symbol, then switch String Adjustment to Off , erase the tubing symbols and switch String Adjustment back on again.
To find a Completion Symbol in the menu, it may be easier to refer to the Completions Manager™ Symbol Index. This shows you all the current symbols and tells you under which menu they are listed. If you can't find a symbol with the exact name of the equipment you need, try picking a similar symbol and changing the description. If you need that specific symbol, inform us as soon as possible. From version 6 of Completions Manager there is a Symbol Browser which allows users to browse through all the Completions Manager symbols. If new manufacturers menus are added after the browser is started, close and re-open the browser to display these.
